Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Little Grandmasters Limited for using Jupo World: the app, the game in a web browser at play.jupo.world, and this website, jupo.world, including family accounts. Please read them with our Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy Notice. If you buy a subscription or use a code, our Subscription Terms and Code Terms also apply.

1. Who we are

Jupo World is run by Little Grandmasters Limited, a company registered in the United Kingdom (company number [PLACEHOLDER: PH-01 company number], registered office The Coach House, Eton Avenue, London NW3 3EL, UK). Contact: hello@jupo.world.

2. What Jupo World is

Jupo World is a learning game for children aged 4 to 10, built on the Chess Palace method with Judit Polgár. Children play short games that build thinking skills. Parents see how their child is getting on. Some games and features are free; others need a subscription.

3. Accounts are for adults

• Website accounts are for adults aged 18 or over: parents, guardians, other carers and educators. When you first sign in, we ask you to confirm this and to accept these terms.
• Children never need their own account, email address or password. They play in profiles that a parent creates and manages.
• You sign in on the website with Google, Apple or a link we email to you. Keep access to that account safe, because whoever controls it can manage your family.
• One person has one login. If you are also a teacher or an ambassador, you use the same login, and each of those roles has its own area and its own terms.

4. Your family

• The adult who owns the family account (the "family owner") manages it: adding and removing children, devices, purchases, consents, downloading the family's data and deleting the account.
• A family can have up to 4 children.
• You can connect the app on your child's device to your website account with a short Connect code that the app shows behind its grown-up check. Only use a code you got from a device in your own family.
• Guardians (not available yet). When this launches, a family owner will be able to invite another adult, such as a grandparent, to see the children's progress, pair devices and redeem codes that do not lead to a payment. Money, consents, data downloads and deletion will stay with the family owner.

5. Children's use

Jupo World is made for children, with a grown-up nearby. You are responsible for your child's use of Jupo World on your devices, and for deciding how long they play. Purchase and account screens in the app are behind a grown-up check: please do not share the answer with your child.

6. Using Jupo World fairly

You agree not to:

• use Jupo World for anything unlawful, or in a way that could harm children;
• try to get into accounts, data or systems that are not yours, or test our security without following our Security page;
• copy, resell, or build a competing product from Jupo World's content;
• interfere with the service, overload it, or use automated tools to access it, except as our Security page allows;
• share, sell or publish codes you are not allowed to share.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where we can, we will tell you why first and give you the chance to put it right.

7. Our content

Jupo World's games, characters, stories, artwork, music and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your family's own, non-commercial use while you have an account. Teachers using Jupo World in class do so under the school's agreement with us.

8. Changes to Jupo World

We keep improving Jupo World, so games and features change over time. We will not take away a significant paid feature during a period you have already paid for without telling you and, where the law requires, offering a remedy. Some features described on our website may not be available in every country or on every device.

9. Availability

We work hard to keep Jupo World running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Progress is saved to your account when the device is online; progress made offline is saved when the device reconnects.

10. Ending the agreement

• You can stop using Jupo World at any time and delete your family's account from the website or the app. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription bought in the App Store or Google Play: cancel it there first. Our Subscription Terms explain how.
• If an account is inactive for 24 months, we may delete it as our Privacy Policy describes.
• We may end these terms if you seriously or repeatedly break them, or if we stop offering Jupo World, giving you reasonable notice and, where you have paid for a period you can no longer use, a fair refund.

11. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where the law does not allow it to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or under your statutory consumer rights. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights the law of your country gives you.

12. Language, law and disputes

• These terms are written in English, and the English text governs, except where the law of your country requires a version in your language to govern.
• These terms are governed by [PLACEHOLDER: PH-10 governing law and courts]. If you are a consumer, you can also rely on the mandatory protections and the courts of the country where you live.
• If something goes wrong, please contact us first at hello@jupo.world. We aim to reply within 1 business day.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you before the change takes effect and, where needed, ask you to accept the new version when you next sign in. Earlier versions are on our legal versions page.
